Acupressure and TCM

The core principles of acupressure are based on the concepts of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) where the interactions in the natural world were considered to reflect the connections between the human mind, body and spirit.

The fundamental belief in the existence of a universal energy that regulated the cycle of all forms of life was thought to be the force that motivated the interactions in the natural world. This can be witnessed in the rebirth and regeneration cycles in all forms of nature including mankind. The energy pathways through the human body were described in the form of 'meridian' lines through which the energy flowed. These pathways could be influenced by using acupressure on the meridians to modify the state of the mind, body and spirit in order to bring about a natural state of balance.
