A Balanced Body, Mind and Spirit

Something I have always known is that touch, when it comes from a place of love and compassion, has the ability to sooth irritation, relax the body, calm the nervous system and promote the body's own healing abilities.

During my early years as a young child, Mom was always around to provide a back rub when I was tense, a head massage when I had a headache, tickles when we were just lying around and hugs and kisses were in abundance.  I didn’t realize at the time that she was actually giving me the gift of touch; something that scientifically has been proven to be a human need.

I’ve always been an intuitive person, sensitive to the goings on around me and to the emotional wellbeing of others.  However, it was only after giving birth to my first child, who was two months premature, that I had the opportunity to put my beliefs about touch into practice.  I read many scientific studies on the benefits of touch and the premature baby; all of which validated what I instinctively knew.  After only twelve months of using various touch techniques, my son had grown from a very small 3lb 15oz frame to a size and weight that was healthy and average for a 12 month old.  I am pleased to say that he is now over 6ft tall and has shoulders that any hockey player would be proud of.

Under the right conditions touch has the ability to heal. I was fortunate to come across those exact conditions when I was first introduced to Jin Shin Do Bodymind Acupressure. Jin Shin Do translates into "The Way of the Compassionate Spirit".  So there it was; a healing modality that incorporated touch with compassion. Everything I knew to be right.

Throughout my life I’ve had a curiosity and thirst for knowledge in regards to how my body and mind functions.  I’ve spent many years studying fitness, nutrition, reading about brain development and the workings of neurotransmitters and the endocrine system. I became my own self study.  My own journey of healing and connection to spirit started approximately eight years ago and consisted of Yoga, Meditation, Qigong, quiet time spent in self reflection and of course, Jin Shin Do which had the most profound impact.  I am pleased to say that I now live from a place of health, happiness, strength and a calmness and tranquility that I nurture every day of my life.

Life and people have taught me many things - my parents and brothers taught me the meaning of unconditional love, my husband has given me the gift of having a soul mate, my two children have shown me a world of joy and what it means to love unconditionally, some very special friends have shown me the meaning of trust and forgiveness and finally, both my teacher Ron Pankratz, and a very special close friend, have shown me the healing art of Jin Sin Do.

To them all I am truly thankful.
